Scarecrow Festival Winners 2016.

Durrow Scarecrow Festival 2016.

The Complete Winners List.

winner2016

What can one say? Wow, I suppose. The 7th All Ireland Scarecrow Championships, finished on Monday 1st August, and unfortunately the elements finally reminded us that this was a festival taking place in Ireland.

Yes it rained all day, and never relented, but everything went ahead as planned, and so many people braved the weather, ensuring that this year’s wonderfully successful, Durrow Scarecrow Festival, did not end on a damper. We are so thankful to everyone who attended, despite the dreary weather, as we are to the thousands who visited over the nine day duration.

It was amazing. The thousands of people were amazing. The scarecrows – in quantity, quality and creativity were amazing. The committee – all volunteers, who organised, orchestrated and oversaw, the entire concept, were amazing. The volunteers who erected the Scarecrow Village, The Ranch, the Mad Hatters Tea Party, and directed traffic, parked thousands of cars, provided security, ran Summer Camps, Activities, Demonstrations, Art Exhibitions, and helped out in numerous other duties, were amazing.

To all involved we extend our utmost thanks and appreciation, for making 2016, such an overwhelming success story.

Speaking of success stories, we now get down to the business of the winning scarecrow entries for this year. As always the winners were chosen by an independent panel of judges, and as always it proved a very difficult task to narrow down, then finally chose winners from the multitude of brilliant entries.

What was also quite difficult today, was trying to get pictures of all the winning entries together, to share with you, as everyone was busy, with the post festival clean-up, disassembly, scarecrow gathering etc. So unfortunately, that is not possible just yet, but it’s a promise, that we will have each and every one, very soon.

So until then, we give you the entire list of winners, with some some pictures!!
