Durrow Scarecrow Festival 2016.
We are on the eve of the 7th annual, Durrow Scarecrow Festival, and the village is already transformed into a magical place, of wonderful scarecrows, and amazing creations.
In 2015, the festival attracted over 19,000 visitors, and given the huge interest in the lead up to this year’s event, it is quite possible we will see another record attendance in 2016.
There is just so much to see and do, on each of the 9 days. There are countless scarecrows on display, of all shapes and sizes, ranging from weird and wacky, to simply wonderful. The creativeness and cleverness of this year’s entries, really must be seen to be fully appreciated.
Not only is every street, road and estate, in Durrow adorned with scarecrows, the Scarecrow Village too, boasts a wonderful collection, and it is here that so many of the Festival’s activities and events take place.
There really is something for everyone – Live Music, Street Theatre, Teen Zone, Teddy Bears Picnic, Inflatable Foosball, Mice Racing, Buy & Sell Fair, Face Painting, Workshops and Demonstrations, to mention but a fraction, of what’s on offer. And that’s just the Scarecrow Village!
There is also the Food & Craft Fairs, Art & Craft Exhibition, Museum Exhibition, Laois Walks, Aghaboe Carriage Tours, Woof and Wellie Walk, Dog Agility and much more!
